Volunteer with Tax-Aid and boost your resume or earn CPE credits!

Attention Bay Area number enthusiasts - Volunteer with Tax-Aid this tax time and boost your resume or earn CPE credits. Whether you’re an established accountant looking to gain continued education, or you’re an accountant-to-be looking to beef up your resume, this opportunity is calling your name.

“Tax Aid is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 1988 by a coalition of accountants and lawyers. Its mission is to provide free income tax preparation to low-income families in the Bay Area at 27 locations.”
Though tax expertise is awesome - no technical knowledge is required! You could volunteer as a(n):
  • Client greeters
  • Bi-lingual screeners
  • Computer technicians
  • Foreign language translators

Requirements: Volunteers are required to attend a two-hour tax update training class in San Francisco, Mountain View, San Jose or San Rafael (where you earn your 2 hours of CPE credits) and one computer lab training (at Golden Gate Univ) at 536 Mission St. in SF. You must volunteer for a minimum of two sessions. Most Tax-Aid volunteers work about 8-12 hours over a few weeks.
